Comment : I really like this song. There is a uaebtiful simplicity to it but it evokes a deeper emotion, getting beyond the surface. I've been listening to a lot of David Gray lately (as I always do early autumn and into winter) and I was thinking the other day that what makes his music particularly powerful me is that it evokes very strong imagery. In "Babylon" he sings about "kicking through autumn leaves and wondering where it is you might be going to. Turning back for home, you know I'm feeling so alone. I can't believe climbing on the stair, I turn around to see you smiling there in front of me." For years, as I've been listening to this, I have a very clear picture of that scene and that fact is always so touching to me. Anyway, I'll be sure to return to your blog. Best wishes with your pursuits down there in L.A. Do you miss Portland? As a fellow Portlander, I would think so. But it is wonderful that you are pursuing your dream. I am certainly not an expert where music is concerned but I know what I like and what transcends the mainstream. I'm looking forward to hearing more. Cheers. |
